Sintered porous metallic filters and components are sintered stainless steel or bronze parts with high porosity (between 25% and 60% by volume).
They are produced by the powder metallurgy technology, which consists of shaping a mixture of metal powders in a mould or tool that has the negative shape of the part and then sintering the resulting preform. The preform may be created by gravity filling, by uniaxial or isostatic pressing or by extrusion, depending on the material to be shaped, the desired porosity and the component geometry.
Sintering consists in heating the preform to a temperature lower than the melting point of the base metal (between 700ºC and 1300ºC) under carefully controlled conditions of atmosphere and time. The temperature causes the powder particles to weld together.
The result of this process is a structurally functional metallic part with a controlled microporosity level.
Our sintered porous tubes are made of 316L stainless steel. They are made by isostatic compaction of powder in a flexible mould with the negative shape of the part, and then sintered. The pore size is adjusted by changing the compaction pressure and/or the particle size of the powder.
These filters are commonly used for dead-end microfiltration of gases at high temperature or pressure and of liquids in a cross-flow filtration regime. Connections of different geometries are often incorporated at the ends ( as BSP or NPT standards or to customer specifications ).

Innovative FiltrexTM stainless steel sintered cartridges are made of multiple layers of sintered stainless-steel mesh, which is applied to a stable supporting cage. Shifting the various sintering filter layers against one another is not possible, which results consistent, reproducible results of filtration. Depending on the Topmesh or Absolta mesh are used for the production. The filter cartridges are regenerative and can be easily cleaned by various methods (backflushing, with high-pressure, ultrasonic or acid bath.) they are used especially at high temperatures, at high viscosities or corrosive media. Capsule filter series is made of polypropylene microfiber. It has a variety of volume options, with gradient pore size and high-strength support, so that the filter cartridge has the characteristics of high retention efficiency and high flow rate, and can provide a variety of removal ratings and a variety of cages and adaptors to choose from.
It is easy to install, and easy to operate. Simplex Basket Filter / Strainers, these are mechanical devices for the efficient removal and retention of solids and other foreign material from flowing fluids and gases. They do this by means of a strainer basket housed within the unit. Basket strainers incorporate larger filtration areas than ‘Y’-Type strainers and similar strainers and thus provide minimal pressure losses, improved flow rates, greater dirt holding capacity and longer service life.
Basket Filters / strainers are used in a vast range of applications where flow can be interrupted to allow the removal of the basket for periodic cleaning. They are usually mounted horizontally into the pipeline, however on fabricated units, line connections can be orientated to suit customer requirements. Minor modifications can also be made to enable the installation into downward flow vertical pipelines.
The central part of the unit is the strainer basket which removes and retains the harmful contamination. The basket is secured via a spring-loaded handle which is compressed by the strainer cover. Baskets are manufactured from perforated plate and, for finer degrees of filtration, baskets are lined with mesh linings which can be either permanent fixtures or removable.

Duplex Basket Filters and Strainers provide continuous process flow service, allowing cleaning or replacement of a basket without interrupting the process flow. Duplex Filter/strainers can be supplied as either cast or fabricated units which are normally installed horizontally into pipelines, however, fabricated units can be orientated to suit your requirements. Duplex strainers comprise two filter chambers, one duty and one standby, each housing either single or multi baskets.
The two filter chambers are interconnected by a valve changeover system, which diverts the flow from one chamber to the other without interrupting the process flow. There are several different valve arrangements that are used to divert the flow and these are detailed below.

Catalyst Recovery Filter for polishing and removing solids, activated carbon and catalyst from reaction mixtures and also hydrogenation reactions. The solids are either remove from the fluid streams or re slurry and send them back to the system. The solids can be obtained in slurries with 30 – 40% moisture or with the help of dip pipes in the candle filter, catalyst with 10-15% moisture can be obtained.
INNOVATIVE FILTREX Sintered Metal Filters uses outside-in filtration for filtering precious metal catalysts in hydrogenation reactions. The candles are back washable and regain original flux after every batch. The mechanism is either to remove the catalyst from fluid streams and filter with zero-holdup recovering all the chemicals or re-slurry and send them back to the reactor.

Innovative Filtrex system consists of a number of equally sized pressure vessels each containing membrane metal filter elements arranged on a tube sheet or headers. The vessel performs the specific functions of filtration, in-situ reverse flow, gas assisted discharge of collected catalyst and when required, an in-situ soak to re-slurry the catalyst if required.
The mechanism of filtration is a direct interception of catalyst particles on the surface of the Imported Sintered membrane metal filter. The cake builds up from 3 mm to 25 mm depending on the type of catalyst being used. The cake resistance of different catalysts can also vary with operating conditions like viscosity of the liquids, density, temperature, pH etc.
The ZERO HOLDUP bottom design for Batch operations and when the catalyst is to be sent for regeneration after every batch, ensures that complete liquid is removed from the vessel and zero holdup is maintained. This is very important for API / Chemicals manufacturing where GMP does not allow mixing of batches nor any liquid holdup is allowed.
At the end of each filter cycle, solids are backwashed off the inside of the elements and discharged as a concentrated slurry to send back to reactor or collected as wet cake in collection vessels.

Innovative FiltrexTMmanufactures two different types of Oil Absorbent Bag Filters and in different sizes. These Absorbent bags are made from multiple layers of polypropylene micro fiber nonwoven that attract (oleophilic) oil droplets within the nonwoven matrix.
The degree of effectiveness of these bags is dependent on the type of oil you are trying to remove as well as the differential pressure across the bag filter media. The greater the differential pressure the greater the propensity will be for the oil droplet to deform, and migrate downstream which you don’t want.
For this reason, we encourage you to use gauges on your housing to decrease your risk of forcing oil droplets downstream.

As I open my eyes to the gentle rays streaming into my room, I am excited. The solitude and quiet of the early morning hours allows me to appreciate that I am alive, I have a new day with immense joy and opportunity ahead of me. A wave of peace rushes over me followed by a thought, How could I extrapolate that peaceful feeling to those around me? To my family, my neighbours, my community, my country and my planet. It is not that difficult to do things a little differently.
Come to think of it, human beings have been able to avoid extinction because we can change. Change is the only constant. Adaptability is what we have in abundance. A sense of hope fills me as I envision a peaceful world, one that is accepting. A world where judgement is left in courtrooms where opinions are not impulsive and latitude for expression is gracefully given. A world which is inclusive, where differences are viewed with wonder and curiosity rather than suspicion and fear. The first step would be to cut out the noise, the verbosity, to communicate with empathy and not ego. To communicate simply without jargon and ambiguity. To communicate, to create not to destroy.
The duality of our present is a bit perplexing. We have a million words for social media but very few for our friends. It is easier for us to make excuses rather than ask for help. We spend time on the construction of our sentences rather than thinking about the consequences they will have. In a world of emojis and short messages, we have clearly lost sight of the longer story. The story in which words build relationships, seek help, find solutions and create community. Our words should elicit cooperation, we should be thoughtful and kind and our actions that follow should truly match our words and their intention. Our actions should be our words in motion.
There are many ways in which we can express our emotions, through art, and through music. Both have scientifically been proven to heal, energise and rejuvenate. Music and art are beyond boundaries; they have a unique quality to bring people together, biologically also increase the brain’s plasticity and access many of the advanced processes of the brain increasing intuitive analysis, expressibility and learning. Different frequencies of sound and music have been proven to create positive shifts so powerful that we can reverse negative energy, reduce stress and create tolerance. They have the power to raise consciousness as seen in many ancient sacred music traditions such as the Gregorian and Buddhist chants and the Hindu shlokas. So just adding some music to life will help us grow emotionally, socially and intellectually appreciating and celebrating the unknown instead of being judgemental and closed. Similarly, art has become an important part of the therapeutic field in both assessment and treatment techniques. According to a study in 2016, less than an hour of creative activity can reduce cortisol levels and stress and have a positive effect on mental health regardless of artistic experience and talent. Art has been proven to help reduce feelings of isolation to increase self-esteem and self-awareness.
Loneliness is perhaps the biggest threat to the social fabric and peace of present times. The pandemic and in some ways the internet have come in the way of physical social interaction. Increasingly people find it hard to express themselves effectively in the social context. Art helps in self-expression and in turn, reviving our means to communicate. Making art and music accessible to all is the goal. This may be done by having recreation centres or social interaction centres in our communities. By encouraging exhibitions and concerts that allow people to celebrate their differences and express themselves without fear of judgement. This is the peaceful and colourful world I long for…
